fan won’t fan. check.

February 28th, 2013

I was trolling through the Google Play Store when I found the developer’s description for Pocket Fan.

“This is an image of a fan that starts rotating when you press the power button. If you press power again, it will stop rotating. It also plays fan sounds, assuming you didn’t turn your volume all the way down.

“This app will NOT actually cool you down. I can’t believe I had to clarify that. Wind will not blow through your screen.”

lackadaisical doctor’s visit

February 27th, 2013

I find that Chris has stayed home from work, and she’s watching more episodes of House MD.
Chris: “I wasn’t feeling well.”
Me: “Well, it’s good that you’re seeing a doctor.”

Friend with newborn is visiting.
Me: “Does she sleep well or does she cry?”
Friend: “Well, once she’s asleep, she’s great, but getting her there can be a problem.”
Me: “I have the same problem with Andrew.”
Andrew: “Hey!”
Friend: “That was surprisingly hilarious.”

guilty crinkles

February 14th, 2013

I wish I knew why this memory is so funny to me but months and months back just after his hospitalization, Andrew mentioned something about being hungry, and I mentioned that there were heart-healthy low-sodium chips by the toaster. A few moments later the sound of crinkly packaging guiltily wafted down the hall as he snacked.

how’s that working out for you?

I felt the cat attacking my leg. I looked down to see him trying to wrestle me to the ground, paws wrapped around calf, teeth bared and catching on my sleeping pants. He looked up at me staring at him, gave this embarrassed “mrow,” and slinked off nonchalantly. Dork…

Adoptive mom’s ‘newborn’ photo shoot with 13-year-old son goes viral

I love that the child was in good humor about it. How hysterical.

way easily amused

February 11th, 2013

‎Chris shook her head repeatedly at me tonight. I had my mifi device while we were having dinner, and told her to find which network name was mine. She looked, then gave me a look and shook her head. “FBI Surveillance Van 3”, which is amusing to me on multiple levels, because not only are the nervous wondering wtf that is, the truly neurotic are wondering where vans 1 and 2 are. I left it on as we walked around town a bit because it amused me to think that someone might be looking at available networks in the area and see that blip before I or they traveled out of range again. We parted ways at the street corner wherein she would visit the bar and I’d go home. “Me and the van are going this way!” I shouted. She shook her head as she walked away.
